Pre-ILP 2 days at Trivandrum

The journey of my IT industry life started on 11 november 2010 when i left from bareilly for Trivandrum to join TCS. Wasn’t prepared yet to travel a long lasting 60 hours jouney but had to do anyhow. Adding spice to condition was that i had to change the train at New delhi. I first had to go to New Delhi and board direct train (kerala express) to Trivandrum.

The only thing which was positive was that 4 of us were together in kerala express. Himanshu, chandan, pavas and myself so passing time was not a problem. The only problem was food. Only a single time we got a veg meal. And rest all time the menu was idli smbhar, vada sambhar, appam sambhar, dosa sambhar. So much of sambhar na...Till now  u must have got sambhar taste. The journey to Trivandrum made us feel what is going to happen in kerala with the food. Train was just a trailor...picture abhi baaki h mere dost.

We reached Trivandrum on 13 nov at 3 pm in noon. I have got Amritha hotel , ulloor for my stay which is in the center of the city in main market..that’s the best part of it. Rest all my classmates got  different hotels. Lodging room is good enough...
2 seater room..
neat and cleaned...
with a cupboard, table, two chairs, attached washroom.

So before joining TCS on 15 nov, it was time to expore the local market..On 14 evening i did it with my neighbour  room TCSers. Big bazaar at a distance of 5 min by walk from my hotel..that’s  the best.
Today was my first day at TCS..but i will write about  first day in my next post.

Thanks to each and every person who fired crackers , launched rocket , lighted holi diyas celebrating my b’day on 5th of November. Ha Ha Ha....Thanks to every one who made me feel special on my b’day. I never expected that whole india will jointly celebrate my b’day.

Saala pehli baar laga celebrity hona bhi khaas hota h. Ha Ha Ha....Hey bhagwan akhir itna special b’day kyo kyo kyo..????? Ab logo ko kaise samjhaun akhir hoon to main bhi unke jaisa.

Though by luck diwali day and my birth date collided together on same date this year , but whatever may be it was special for me. Special bcoz this was probably my last bday at home with my mom and dad and that too first time falling on diwali day . From now i have to probably celebrate my all the next bday’s @ TCS.

Thanks to all my friends who remembered my birthday and made me feel that friendship continues after school and college life also. Missed u all bcoz there was no one to celebrate my bday in our special style.....’ The lafanga style’ .

Bareilly to Trivandrum @ TCS : Ab Kanniyakumari door nahi

It was 29th September, the day i was waiting for, after some how completing my B.Tech (Bachelor in tension of engineering and career halucinations). This was the day i got my TCS joining day as 22nd Nov 2010 at Trivandrum (THIRUVANANTHAPURAM).

Yes Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of southest Indian state Kerala, which is at a distance of just 80 km from kanniyakumari (south end point of india). The city which is approx 3200 km away from my home(in bareilly) with a travel duration of 60 hours by an express train.

This beautiful district is considered to be the abode of the sacred snake Anandan and hence the name Thiru ‘anantha’ puram. India’s finest technology park is positioned in this district showing the progress in information and technology.

It’s time now to adapt to latest fashion trend---LUNGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (It would be most difficult for me,so sorry kerala)

It’s time now to learn Malayalam.

It’s time now to say good bye to north Indian food.

It’s time now to get addict to Idli sambhar- Idli sambhar- Idli sambhar in breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It’s time now to greet someone as Namaskaram instead of Namaskar.

It’s time now that people conversating infront of me and me just trying to get a little bit of it by just their expressions only.

From childhood i have only listened ‘Kashmir to Kanniyakumari’ about india. But now i can say ‘Bareilly to Trivandrum’...Ab Kanniyakumari door nahi. Wo kehte h na paisa kamane ke liye log kahin bhi ja sakte h !!!!

ENGINEERING THE JUGAAD

The word jugaad typifies the essence of jugaad. Jugaad is a phrase used for a resourceful person - for a quick fix or a work around engineered to compensate for a lack of resources (both tangible and intangible).

Jugaad in its third sense is both an art and science. It conclusively puts an end to the engineering-management debate by effectively validating that they are one and the same thing. A jugaad may not necessarily fix the problem. But it does provide an alternative method to avail it - a technique that is often used as a temporary solution to a software bug.

our college embraces this concept with a lot of spirit. College events and fests are filled with numerous instances of how an ingenous jugaad saved the day. consider the possibility (or rather the certainity) of database of your software getting connection fright a few hours before an event. They obviously didn't teach you to fix that. The only available solution is to well, jugaad another one to replace the rummy traitor.

There is no limit to what and how one can jugaad things during the course of engineering - once you get the hang of it, it sticks with you. Final year projects, seminar slides, guest speakers at an event, library cards, flash drives, fake identities, assignment sheets, certificates, notes, money for flawless spending in canteen --- they are just the tip of the iceberg.

Engineers are often thought to be cranky figures poring over large intricate blueprints, planning meticulously for hours together. Of course actual engineering students with a real engineering degree would find the very idea of blueprints and flow diagram quite laughable, atleast back home in the land of jugaad. As opposed to the ingenuity and quick thinking that an efficacious jugaad demands, plans and designs sap the punch from a problem. Why bother wasting those extra hours on designing when a quick solution jugaad is not only adequate but also has the added advantage of saving extra time for fun and celebrating.

Jugaad versus the actual thing is like a fight between Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. While Bruce Lee uses technique with a finesse that is delightfully fluid, Jackie Chan's style is more on-the-spot, more creative, more jugaad-ish. No one can say with certainty who the winner would be in such a event, but in a bare empty room Chan would probably feel a little lost..

Journey of my comp life!!

I still remember the day when my dad brought a desktop for me when I was in class 8th .That day the shopkeeper came in his own car to deliver the computer at my home. This was because buying a computer at that time was very rare shopping for a person. One of the best configuration at that time Pentium III, 128 MB Ram,40 GB hard disk, white CRT monitor with a HP inkjet printer for 38 K.

Unfortunately for me it was like not knowing how to ride a bicycle and given a motorcycle to ride. Really at that time i was not knowing how to shut down a computer. After installation i asked that computer guy to install games.....my next question was uncle “ye computer band kaise karte h”. He smiled and then told me how to shutdown a PC.

Though in Bishop Conrad School we were taught language “LOGO” and “BASIC” in class 8th but i was having NIL knowledge in basic knowledge of computer because we were given a already started computer with the console of language and we were not allowed to open anything else in school.

So now it was the time to explore what i was not allowed in school. But a child in class 8th was much fascinated by playing games rather than anything else.I with my school friends (Pushkar, Siddhant,Qasim...) used to play the only game “DAMORASH” orderly and it was the daily scenario before and after coaching.

Slowly and steady i gained interest in computer field and i took computer science as subject in class 11th and 12th. This interest continued as i took admission in B.TECH in computer science branch, after 12th in SRMSCET. And now i am placed in India No. 1 and world’s No. 5 software company TCS as a software engineer.

I never knewed that incident in class 8th would change my life. Thanks to my dad and thanks to my 9 years old P–III computer which is still functioning well. Though my dad gifted me a new LENOVO laptop recently after being placed in TCS, that desktop will always be my best gift i ever had in my life.

It’s the time:
